Is this fainting? |
2 years ago while swimming at school, after i got after the pool, my vision started getting very dark and cloudy, which happens to me sometimes when i get up after sitting down for a very long time, but this time it kept getting darker and darker, and i became very lightheaded and dizzy and i felt like i could barely stand up. I told the teacher, and then i went to lay down on a bench, and i was completely blind before i even got to the bench (i had people helping me there). after a few minutes my vision came back, although i was still very pale (thats what i was told, i couldnt see myself), then i went to the doctor who said it may be fainting, and gave me a pamphlet about fainting and that was it. I was fine since then, until i was getting out of a pool last weekend and my vision clouded the same way again. I sat down just in case i were to faint, but i didnt go blind again. I felt dizzy the rest of the day. Is this something i shuld worry about? Is it fainting or something else? Ive been in the pool plenty of times in the last 2 years and it wasnt until last weekend that it happened again. Sounds like you just barely avoided fainting. You can avoid it sometimes if you realize it fast enough and can sit quick. sounds like something that happened to me. it's not really fainting, i don't think. hun i'm not a docter or expert but i know its not fainting. whether it is or isnt fainting..you should def get checked out..sounds dangerous Well it does sound like fainting but to be on the safe side because I am not a doctor that you may want to stay out of the pool. It seems like your fainting condition occurs when you go swimming so you may not want to go anymore until you tell a doctor. I experience the same thing. Whenever I start to feel dizzy I just stop what I am doing, grab hold of something and wait until it's over. If I don't grab something I'll end of falling down. I find that if I get up slowly and take my time that it helps somewhat. Lately when I get dizzy and my vision starts clouding up I just think to myself in determination that I will not get dizzy or go blind again. It helps. I can't say what's wrong with you. I don't know what's wrong with me either. I've read up once before that sometimes it may be due to some type of balance disorder. One time it was so bad I thought I wasn't going to be able to see again. It really scared me. I hope someone else comes along and is able to explain better. I'll be paying attention, of course. Good luck! OMG! i noe how you feel when you quickly get up sometimes it's all dark head kills feels like your drunk i guess trust me your fine it's just your pressure that's when you get up too quickly or you have low salt or sugar UGH I FORGET lol.......but yah somethiing like that It sounds like you could have experienced a fainting spell. Have you taken your blood pressure. Low or high blood pressure can make you feel dizzy, and I'm thinking since it happens when you get up after sitting for a long time, it's low. You need to get up slowly, and you need to get a second opinion from a doctor. Make sure your blood pressure is checked, esp. after one of these episodes, you may find the reason for these episodes. If the dizziness continues, you may also have an inner ear problem. Excessive fluid in the inner ear can cause dizziness, that could be the problem too. You should carry a small bottle of half alcohol, half vinager and put a few drops in each ear before and after swimming. I swam on a swim team when I was younger, and we did this, it helped us keep our ears dry, and prevented infections too! But be sure to talk to another doctor about this, the one you talked to didn't seem concerned enough! Good Luck! |
