Fainting: Anything I can do about it? |
I have a history of fainting, and I usually pass out at least twice a year. the circumstances usually inclue hot rooms with lots of people in them. If I know I will be in a situation that may cause me to faint, is there anything I can do to prevent this (like food, excersizes, etc)? I've had that problem too. If I am standing for too long and it's a hot/warm room, I will faint. I have a history of high blood pressure, and had a tilt table test done. I have been diagnosed with neurally mediated syncope, which basically means that if I stand for too long, my blood pressure drops to around 60/40 making me pass out. In a normal person, their hearts can pump blood back up to their heart... mine just drops. Talk to your doctor and see what is causing your fainting spells. It most certainly can be because of anxiety. see a Dr No there is not much you can do about this. It happens to the best of us. You can try slow deep breathes but that doesn't always work. Your best bed is to leave the room for a bit to get some air. Yes, eat something, drink lots of water. You probably have social anxiety disorder, It is common i have a friend who throws up when he is going to places with allot of people. You might want to get something from the Dr. that calms your nerves I had the same issue when I was younger, but I always fainted in church. Sometimes it has to do with your blood sugar getting too low, which can be corrected by eating a healthy snack. Try to make sure you eat before you'll be in these kinds of situations, and if you start to feel overheated, step outside or stand by a window. It can also help to sit down for a little bit, and have someone get you a cool drink. Pay attention to what happens when you start feeling faint and you'll learn to recognize the symptoms. |
