How can I stop fainting episodes when grossed out.?

I have often suffering from fainting or feeling faint when thinking or hearing about topics which gross me out such as biological processes abortion etc. I have looked for tips to help me with this but all I can find is avoid things that make you feel faint. Wondered if there are any psychologists can explain to me why just thinking about certain things can make you feel physically sick. Is there anything you can do to build up a resistance to these things affecting you?

Yes, there is something you can try. It is called desensitisation. You learn relaxation techniques so that you can become deeply relaxed and while you are in a deep relaxed state you picture one of the things that would make you feel sick. Start off with the one that you would find easiest to handle. Stay relaxed while you allow it to come to your mind let it stay a while then continue on with your relaxation.

You repeat this twice daily. Work on gradually to visualising things you find more difficult. Until eventually you face the thing itself....if possible.

If you saw a psychologist, this is one of the methods they would use with you, but if you buy a relaxation tape, one that talks you through is better, then you can try it out yourself.

There is no time in which you will be cured, a lot depends on you.

Best wishes.

Ever thought about being hypnotised...?
