Can panic attacks cause fainting?

When I start getting a panic attack, I feel like I'm going to faint. I'm deathly afraid of fainting. Could having a panic attack actually *make* someone faint?

Hyperventilating during a panic attack is not uncommon, and if your body is deprived of the oxygen for long enough you can faint. When this actually occurs, the body then regains control and your breathing returns to normal.
This doesn't seem like your situation though! From the sound of it, you may become lightheaded/dizzy which is a similar feeling one gets before fainting. It seems to me like your fear of fainting actually makes your panic attack worse. Such 'phobias' are quite common in those that have panic attacks.
Panic attacks are awful, but there are coping skills you can learn that will help you get through them better. Keep your chin up and good luck.

nah it cant actually make you faint. The only way that you can faint is from hyperventilating so if you can control your breathing you wont faint

I am not a doctor but I have been getting panic attacks since I was 12. You may feel like you are going to faint but it depends on how far you let your panic attack take control. When you feel like that try taking deep breaths. Think of something else. It's hard and may take some practice to get it down.

Yes. I have panic attacks and I've actually passed out. I feel like I can't breath and I'm having a heart attack. Its a horrible feeling. On top of having an anxiety attack your having even more anxiety worrying if you'll pass out from your anxiety attack. Its a vicious cycle. Try talking to your doctor. They can prescribe certain meds to help and refer you to a psychiatrist. I'm now taking Lexapro for GAD and Xanax when I need to calm myself down. The Xanax works wonders and calms me down as soon as I feel a panic attack coming on.
