What could cause sudden fainting spells? |
A friend of mine has been suddenly fainting. It wasn't like a normal fainting spell though, it took forever for her to regain consciousness. She was all sweaty and confused. At the hospiotal when the did a brain scan it showed that it wasn't normal, like she had brain damage. I could understand that if she hit her head but someone caught her. She is going to a neurologist ASAP, but do any of you know what could be causing this? Do you have any similar experiences? She's only 23. It sounds like a blood sugar issue - either hyper-glecemia or hypo-glecemia....she could also be diabetic or have a blood clot on the brain or some other serious problem. The neurologist will give her the appropriate tests and in the meantime, for heaven sake, don't let her drive for her safety and the safety of others. Stand by her and be supportive. Good luck to you both. well fainting (syncope) is caused by a sudden lack of oxygen to the brain, theres numerous causes for it...so its best to wait for the results from her tests to let the doctor decide that. Sometimes it could be nothing at all so dont jump to conclusions until the doctor discusses it with her. It could have been a stroke dear.Whenever you faint and lose oxygen to the brain it will cause some sort of damage.I am so sorry that she went through this and best wishes for a full speedy recovery! |
