Fainting Spells?

When I was 9 months pregnant I started having fainting spells, which I felt was pretty normal at the time.
Now it's been 4 months since I had my child and I'm still getting them everytime I do anything outside the house.
I'm not breastfeeding and I'm well nourished, and it's really worrying me. I'm almost scared to leave the house.
I know diabetes runs in my family, but I'm only 21 so wouldn't it be a little early for that?
Please offer your advice :)

Fainting spells should ALWAYS be seen by a doctor. You may have simple low blood sugar (not diabetes), a heart condition, a neurological condition, or low blood pressure to name a few possibilities.

It's odd that you only have them outside your home. Do you have trouble breathing? Do you think it may be an atypical presentation of asthma or inhalant allergies?

Just for the record, Type 1 diabetes (formerly known as Juvenile or Insulin Dependent Diabetes) can affect anyone from newborns to adults. Type 1 diabetes requires multiple daily insulin injections and cannot be prevented.

Most likely though, it is Type 2 diabetes that runs in your family (formerly called adult-onset). Type 2 diabetes is linked to obesity and poor diet in most (but not all) cases. If you are having low blood sugar due to excess insulin production (sometimes seen in pre Type 2 diabetes), losing weight and eating right can help prevent it.

See your doctor ASAP. Repeated fainting spells needs immediate attention. Typically, diabetes does not present with fainting spells. If you were to fall into a diabetic coma, you would not wake up without medical care. But you may very well have hypoglycemia, which *may* be a sign of prediabetes.

It may be diabetes you should check with a doctor because I even know a person who has had diabetes since they were four years old.

i agree with devin it could be diabetes
