Do you believe in an "out of body experience"? It happened to me.?

In an auto accident, I suffered massive head and facial injuries.I was in a coma in the I.C.U. for nine days.But in two instances I saw my body in bed with all sort of machines connected to me and when I was being moved inside the CT Scan machine.I dont have any memory of any other detail of my stay in the Intensive Care Unit. But the details I saw in those "out of body" experiences are still with me. I was elevated,was looking down at my body,like a spectator,bathed in an indescribable light. I felt no sense of attachment or loss as I looked at my body and the encounter cannot be measured
by minutes or hours.There was no sense of time. Only a lightness of being. Please dont judge me,it just happened to me and I'm still confused. Thank you in advance.

I used to experiment with OOBEs back in the 80's and 90's, mostly using Monroe Institute Hemi-Sync tapes and various visualization methods.

I "left my body" on numerous occasions and went bouncing around the house and had brief excursions to lands and places unknown.

Through all of these adventures, I only once had what I thought was an experience that seemed to prove that I was somehow really outside of my body and not just fabricating entertaining internal "holodeck" experiences for myself.

I was taking a nap, in the evening. I worked nights and was snoozing up for work. I hadn't used any particular OOBE techniques that evening, though the intention was present. I was sacked out in the living room, on a futon in front of the TV, which was tuned to The Playboy Channel. The sound was muted. I was enjoying some pre-escape vibrations and was about to attempt a lift-out when I heard a noise on the back patio that woke me up. I got up, and looked at the TV. A brunette model was riding a bicycle at what appeared to be Venice Beach. I went to the rear sliding-glass door and stuck my head through the thick, closed drapes and the glass to see what was happening. There was nothing to see, so I went back inside and layed back down.

As a wave of vibrations broke, I suddenly realized that I couldn't have put my head THROUGH the glass, so I snapped awake and looked up. The TV showed a brunette model dismounting a bicycle on a video centerfold program. I went to the sliding doors and found them to be closed and quite impenetrable.

Then I went to work.

I still haven't completely decided about OOBEs. I guess I've adopted a "wait and see" attitude. At the very least they're a unique form of entertainment. At most, they may be evidence of life after death. My rational mind says "poppycock" about the life after death theory, though I remain hopeful.

EDIT: The experience described above happened about 20 years ago, and I haven't had another experience since that had "evidence" that corresponded to the "real world". I've been to a number of places and communicated with "beings" of many different dispositions and philosophies, though any or all of them might have been different parts of my own mind talking to itself, though some of the creatures haven't seemed to be "me". Hard to say.

My more recent attempts have centered mostly on waking up during dreams to generate a lucid dream experience. This is a real hoot when you can get it to work!
