I need help and my doctor won't help me..... help? |
I'm quite sure I have..... Try and find a pychologist to help you. It will be expensive but they specialise in mental diagnoses. Your doctor may just not have seen a case before or if he is old he hasn't learnt about it. Some mental problems have only really been diagnosed as a real medical problem in more recent years. I also have OCD (but different to yours) so you can email me if you like. Sorry to say, you need to do the IMPOSSIBLE. Find a new doctor. Good luck. What you need is a psychiatrist to diagnose you properly before you can begin treatment. Are you able to get a referral to a psychiatrist? (I'll admit that I'm not familiar with Canadian health care.) There are lots of mental health agencies or advocats in Ontario. sometimes doctors dont like people diagnosing themselves with something. thats their job. i know its a different system from the US but there are doctors who you just need to keep searching for. go to Witbey or whatever that is. cant spell it. Go to a GOOD Psychiatrist so you can be evaluated. An Obssessive-Compulsive Personality trait (like wanting to be clean all the time or being extremely orderly) is okay. However if it interferes with your daily activities (like "picking your face all day long" & ending up with scars) or results in injuries (like "biting your tongue until it bleeds") then we have a serious problem. You definitely need professional help. Inform your parents or any family member about your problem & don't take it to yourself. Go get some help. Go to a Psychiatrist. I hope this helps. -dennisMD I guess hes right when he says its up to you... quite frankly your doc is letting you down. ask for second opinion or ask to be transferred to the hospitol so you can have an overall assessment. good luck Get some counselling. If your doctor is not referring you to a psychiatrist go to a psychologist you don't need a referral and some agencies like Catholic Social Services will allow you to see some one according to what you can afford (sliding scale). Don't let the "Catholic" put you off the service is available to everyone no matter your beliefs and they won't push God down you throat, these people are professionals they just happen to work for a Catholic agency. I've used their services in Alberta and it was excellent. Best of luck to you. I don't think you have OCD I think that these are just habits. I do that all of the time. In fact I'm picking at my face now lol. I think that is just a subconsious way of clearing acne, and improving your apperence. Ocd is more for meticulous little rituals like opening and closing doors to just make sure they are closed. Biting your lip is just to like get rid of sores and stuff, or make sure you are still alive (unless you like the taste of blood, which isn't uncommon). |
