I'm a seventeen yr old male living in Chennai. I suspect i have Klinefelter's Syndrome. I've exhibit the following symptoms:-
Gynaecomastia(not exaggeratingly noticable)
Low-facial hair growth
wide hips(not too wide)
small testicles( not too small)
no chest hair
Low muscular growth( not too low)
Less stamina
small voice
So, i decided that i have Klinefelter's syndrome positively. But then i failed to show the following typical Kline's... symptoms:-
Low IQ(mine is well above 180)
Low sexual drive( Contrasting)
Learning disabilities( one of the top in the class)
Round body( i have shoulders wider than my hips)
Small external Genitalia( mine isn't toooo small - 5.5")
The results this disorder has had on me:-
I'm a recluse. I just don't socialize with people.
I don't look people in the eyes. Low self esteem.
I can't remove my shirt anywhere.
I can't buy the clothes i want when i go shopping.
no swimming pool visits.
<the endless results have been truncated> It seems nowadayz w/ the internet sooo many people r self diagnosing themselves!! I even thought I had a disorder got lot's of test and my doctor said "Come on!" You are fine!!
Anyway....what's a recluse?? A PRISON IN YOUR OWN MIND!! Forget about what you think you have!! And get out of the house!! We all have things we don't like about ourselves...and that's OK!! but guess what?? don't swim if u don't want that's fine, so go HIKING/SKIING/SHOPPING! Those things require shirts!! There is soooo much to life!!
And soooo many guyz have "man-boobs"!! There is help out there!! Lucky you you don't have female tendancies...so I think that's y your boobies bother you so...U probably just need some hormone therapy honey....try an endocrinologist. And stop diagnosing yourself!!
Promise me you'll take it easy on yourself. You're too smart for your own britches!! Dear Ragav,
I can understand your worry about the possiblity of Klinefelters syndrome. But first lets try and put your complaints in a rational order:
I am impressed by the manner in which you have dissected the issue. In fact by doing so you have inadvertently demonstrated the lack of one of the criteria: Low intellegence. Obviously the fact that you are doing well academically speaks the same.
Gynecomastia is one of the features of klinefelters but you must take into consideration that it is usually (most often) a problem which is due to hormonal imbalance and is a cosmetic problem only. Klinefelters is an uncommon cause of gynecomastia compared to the rest of the not-so-serious issues.
The other features besides what you have listed is an unusually tall stature/height (except in one subtype) and long arms/legs. You have not stated if this is the case.
Apart form these you admit that you do not have many of the features of Klinefelters such as the low IQ, decreased libido and small genitalia.
I wouldnt read too much into less facial and body hair. These are very variable criteria and may be familial or simply hormonal.
In other words it doesnt seem likely that you have Klinefelters. It may be a possiblity but I would say that this is very far from likely.
The end of your letter seems to indicate that the main issue that you face is the embarrassment of gynecomastia. This is completly understandable and you must find a way of going to a doctor (such as a surgeon). Im sure that intellegent as you are, you will find a good doctor, preferably someone in a medical college. You must voice you concern of Klinefelters, as they may be able to lay your mind to rest by cytogenetic studies.
Hope this helps |
