I wear glasses, but is it ok to ask my eye doctor ,can I sample contacts?

I am going to the eye doctor friday, I wear glasses, but also would like to try contacts ,but on the phone the nurse ask me did I wear contacts I said no,How do I try them just to see if I like them?

You can give them a shot any time. Thing is, they'll have to give you a contact lens exam (different from an eyeglass exam). That exam runs anywhere from 90-130, depending on your prescription (astigmatism and whatnot).

If your prescription is not too strong, they'll probably give you a set of disposable contacts to wear out of the office.

you ask the doctor

There should be no issues wearing contact lenses. Please go to a proper Eye-Glasses store and get the contact lenses. Dispsable contact lenses are slightly expensive and more effective. But even the non disposable ones are good. However after wearing them if you feel irritated then you need to consult an eye doctor

You need some additional testing at the eye doctor~
But do not hesitate to let the doctor know that you are very interested in contacts~
The will fit you and give you a trial pair~you will then go back in a couple of weeks and let them know if they are working well for you~if not they will try another kind and so on~
Remember to follow the directions they give you for the contacts very well~
Normally you have to ease into them wearing them for short periods of time and working your way up to all day wear~or all day all night wear~
I was amazed at how much better I could see once I got contacts~I am both near sighted and far sighted~I wear two different lenses~one for near~one for far~I thought it was very bizarre~but it retrains you brain and I have excellent vision~!~
Go get em"~!~"

tell the doctor that you are interested in contacts. he will fit you with the correct prescription. he will probably suggest getting a one month supply of disposable contacts, in case you are not comfortable with them. there will also be a higher exam charge since he will fit you for contacts.

The only reason the nurse asked if you wore contacts is so that she could schedule your time correctly, and make sure that you showed up with them and your glasses at the appointment.

Tell everyone who works at the office that you are interested in contact lenses. Then go for it.

Good Luck

Go ahead and ask. My optometrist let me try several different contact lenses, working with me to achieve rhe best results. They will show you how to put them in and take them out, and will give you ones to try out at home. Good luck......I am wearing contacts now for the first time in many years, and I love the freedom they give.
