Eye injury?

I recently got an ulcer(scratch) on my cornea. I know this is very serious and is being treated. I'm currently on a heavy antibiotic and I'm going to an ophthalmologist tomorrow.
I was wondering if you have ever had anything like this, seen, or heard anything like this and what was the outcome.

It's definitely an ulcer. It's very large and easy to see, mostly the pain is going away.
What happened is I had an ulcer before, it healed nicely, I slept in my contacts, it came back. It is in both eyes, i have two ulcers in my right, one in the left, either I'm accustopmed to the pain or it's going away. But one of the ulcers in my right eye is particularly big.

I'm 14 years old, and I'm mainly worried because the first eye doctor I went to wasn't telling me everything. My parents said that all he could do was give me eyedrops, do them, but I still might end up blind.

Thanks to all who have answered and those who will answer.

Corenal ulcers can be of all types of severity in regards to syptoms (how you feel) and signs (what the doctor sees) so it's hard to say exactly *what* the outcome will be in your case. Some people with corneal ulcers actually have to be admitted to the hospital and given antibiotics IV! Others don't even realize they have an ulcer because it's really not that painful at all!

Everyone heals at a different rate. An ulcer is a disruption to the corneal epithelium which is like the top layer of skin for lack of a better word. If I cut my arm, and you cut yours, we may not heal at the same rate or a well as one or the other. With that said, I've seen some people with ulcers, taking a regime of drops over the course of a couple of weeks, all healed up and in most cases, ready to wear contact lenses again - if he/she is a contact lens wearer.

I hope this helps and I hope you get better soon! And here's a site that may be of some help.

Heh. Even your avatar is having eye problems.

Yes I have done this twice. The first time it healed up within a few days, but the last time it took almost 2 weeks because it was so bad!! I thought I was gonna flip out. I kept feeling like something like a rock was rolling around in my eye, I couldn't stop crying because it hurt so bad, my eye was bloodshot from irritation, etc. Even the drops seem to burn the heck out of it. It really depends on the scratch and how deep. I hope yours heals up soon. Just don't rub it at all. It makes it worse and healing longer. Keep a patch over it.

Glad to hear you are having it taken care of by a doctor. I have had this happen twice and after a few days it was fine, never any further problem. The doc put a patch over my eye both times because otherwise you blink and blink and blink, very annoying and not conducive to healing. best of luck.

Yes, it hurts like crazy! Do not rub it!!!! I hope you haven't. It took mine about 21/2 wks. to get better. Yes, the med's stung and i felt made the "rock" as you well put it, feel bigger! Mine finally got better, and I have no problem with my eyesight. Needless to say, I don't want to ever go through that again. Mine happened when I got small piece of wood in my eye and I kept rubbing it.
