Is terramicina used for eye infections?

I recenly went to my eye doctor and was told that I have two eye infections I wouldnt have notices if he hadn't said anything. I thought my eyes where just dry because of my contacts turnes out it was on was the infections in my eyes. so he just asked me to do heat compressions, use sinthetic tears and wash around my eye with baby soap but my mom gave me this medicine she got from mexico called Terramicina and told me to use it in my eyes but to be honest I want to get the 411 on this med so can some one help me better understand what this medicine is and what it is commonly used for
thanks

I've never seen this drug used in humans.

If your Dr. didn't prescribe any eye meds, you don't need it. From what you described above, it sounds like blepharitis, which is usually resolved with the treatment he gave you.

Yeah my aunt is a Dr in mexico and she gave me Terramicina one time I went to mexico because I had gotten an eye infection from the dirt and wearing contacts and it worked. Just rub the terramicina in your eye and use heat compression. worked for me!!

Basically its just an anti-biotic for your eye.

my family swears by this stuff.

i actually am using it right now because i have an eye infection.
its the kind of medicine we keep in our cabinet at all times like aspirin and motrin and midol ;)

from my research its pretty much an antibiotic ointment made for your eye but i know weve used it for other things at times when we havent been able to make it to the doctor..
any infection i have i throw this on... call me crazy i guess.
never had any weird side effects or anything like that...
