Any home remedies for eye allergies/infections?

Ok, here's the scoop. I am allergic to the proteins my own eyes secrete. Normally, I don't have much in the way of problems with this, but I'm going through a time when my body is freaking out and I'm getting infection after infection. So in my right eye, the allergy has gotten so overblown it's now an infection. It's red, swollen and sore, and there's so much watering and gunk that my eye is sealed shut in a couple of hours. I've used saline solution to rinse my eye and a hot compress to try to remove some of the gunk. What else can I try to offer some relief?

Yes, I plan on calling the doctor. It's only been overnight that I've had the problem and it's only 2:30 AM now, so I can't call the doctor yet. Just looking for some help until I can call. Only 6.5 hours to wait.

You're doing the right thing if you are rinsing with warm salt solution.
Keeping your eyes clean is about all you can do.

Be cautious about what you use around your eyes... As you already know, they're delicate.
