My eye infection wont go away?

I'm not even sure it's an eye infection now. My eyes are red and a little yellow, and get worse if I wear my contacts. They don't hurt, but my head usually does. Red eye remover relieves it temporarily, as does moisture drops, but it always comes back. I've used medicine for pink eye two times within the past few months. Either I'm getting one infection right after the other, or it's never completely going away.

My eyes are goopy in the morning, and if I wear mascarra then it ALWAYS flakes into my eyes and collects. It's disgusting. I've tried hypoallergenic mascarra that isn't supposed to flake, but it STILL gets in my eyes, and I'm wondering if that's the problem. What I'm also worried about is WHY it stays in my eye...My eyes don't seem to be cleaning themselves. I've NEVER had this problem until these past few months. Even after using an eyewash the bits of mascarra are still in there.

Could my tear ducts be blocked? I can still cry...

I can't stop wearing mascarra...I look awful without it. I stopped wearing it while using the drops for the infection and that was embarassing enough.

Besides, I shouldn't have to stop wearing it if nothing is wrong with my eyes. Like I said, I never had the problem of it staying in my eyes until recently.

you have to (not an option) THROW AWAY your contacts and do NOT put them on again until you have been cleared by an eye Dr to wear them again- Wearing your contacts when you have an eye infection only compounds your problem, bercause the contacts pick up the infection too! You may need to rethink your eye makeup too. Good luck!

don't wear mascara maybe? cuz if it goes in your eye(the flakes) then i can see how your eye is getting an infection almost every time

you're going in too many directions with your remarks that it's difficult to figure out which problem you started with. First of all if you have yellow eyes then go see your doctor as you may be jaundiced. But if you are just buying flaky mascara then I'd say change your brand. If you were treating yourself for pink eye (over the counter) and didn't really know that you had it you may have caused yourself a problem. Why not just go and have your eyes checked by an optometrist.

I had similar symptoms and actually had to go to an eye doctor, not just a general medicine doctor. They prescribed some very expensive drops with kicked it fast! I would recommend getting an eyeliner and mascara you don't mind disposing of until it clears up. Don't used the same stuff for more than two days in a row as it will re-infect your eyes. I spent a ton on makeup when I had my infection, but it is well worth it to not get it back. Definately get some stronger drops from a real eye doctor. They will test you for clogged tear ducts as well (which is what I thought mine was).

If you are treated for an eye infection, you need to throw away all your eye makeup as the containers are likely contaminated. Thus, you can keep reinfecting yourself. Also, if prescribed eye drops, complete the full dose as ordered by your doctor, even if your eye seems better.

I have some friends who are the unwilling victims of an eye infection which is an epidemic (dr. said) in DFW. It takes 6 weeks or so to clear up, and is extremely, extremely contagious.

Go see an opthalmologist today.
