Do you or have you ever gotten an eye infection? |
I'm not talking about pink eye. For the past few years I have been getting "eye infections" that is what my eye doc calls them. Basically what happens is that my eyes get scratchy when I have my contacts in. I go in, the doc takes a look at them, she says that they are red, swollen, and that they have red bumps on them. She gives me some steroid dorps, and has me come back in ten days. during those ten days I can not wear my contacts :( So I went back yesterday to have her check them out and they are not better. I am getting so fursterated with this problem because I get them two to three times a year. They hurt, and I find it annoying to wear my glasses for weeks. YES! This has happened to me numerous times. One time some of the red bumps were so bad (and large) that the doctor had to do minor surgery in which he "poked" into them with some sort of needle. It did not hurt though. It seems like the doctor could prescribe you a different kind of contacts or maybe it is the solution that is irritating your eyes. Smoke is a big irritant when wearing contacts. Have you seen an eye doctor? Some people have trouble with 'dry eyes' where the tear ducts don't produce enough liquid. This can be an effect of weather as well. The optometrist will prescribe drops to correct this. You have to keep using them but they help. Yes I have had an eye infection twice, the first one was right about this time last year, there isn't much you can to except put the eye drops in as prescribed, sometimes putting a warm rag on your eyes helps, just remember do NOT put your contacts in because that could keep the infection in your eyes longer and make your eyes really sore. Don't touch your eyes and then touch something else either, that spreads it to other people. You're eyes get scratchy because your lacrimal glands (which produce tears) and the tarsal glands (which secrete an oil that lubricates the eye because the tears (which are made of H20, protein, salt, musuc, and lyzozyme) are poor lubricants) aren't doing their job. |
