Eye infection please help me?

Ok so about 3 days ago my eyes started looking really red escecially my right eye. Now Both my eyes are very red, will not stop watering and there is gunge coming out of them. I wear contact lenses so i dont know if it is an eye infection because of them or if it is something different like conjunctivitus. I have called the optition and they just said to stop wearing my contact lenses but my eyes have not cleared up what shall i do? and is there anything i can do to clear it up faster?please help me thanks !!

"you could have a corneal ulcer which can threaten your sight, discontinue contact lens use and see an ophthalmolgist asap! you need antibiotic drops, without these you could risk severe damage to the cornea resulting in vision loss or you may need a corneal transplant in worse case scenario, see an actual medical doctor not an optometrist.."

no. this is completely false. only go to an ophthalmologist if you need SURGICAL correction for something...this is not one of those cases. this poster sounds like they are in Europe, but here in the US optometrists in every state can and do rx medications for all kinds of eye conditions. this case does not warrant an ophthalmologist if it occurs in the US.

this is unlikely to be an "ulcer". ulcers are almost always unilateral...this patient has a bilateral (both eyes) condition.

this is much, much more likely to be a contact-lens-induced inflammatory response like GPC, or another form of conjunctivitis (viral, bacterial, allergic).

stop wearing the contacts. go to the eye doctor. if in the US, go to the optometrist. not necessary to see an ophthalmologist

First of all, stop going to that doctor! he/she is obviously an idiot. Secondly, go and see a doctor, even if it's just your primary care physician. You need to be seen and treated immediately. The eyes are definately the one organ that a person never wants to play with.

I would go to a doctor to be on the safe side and to prevent if getting worse.

It sounds like conjunctivitis. don't wear your contacts and make an appointment with your physician so he could give you medicine to clear it up.

you could have a corneal ulcer which can threaten your sight, discontinue contact lens use and see an ophthalmolgist asap! you need antibiotic drops, without these you could risk severe damage to the cornea resulting in vision loss or you may need a corneal transplant in worse case scenario, see an actual medical doctor not an optometrist..

yes maybe you have an infection..ask your doctor about anti infective eyedrops,, & discard your contact lens buy a new one,yes youre not allowed to wear your contacts, just wear eyeglasses until your eyes is completely healed.

dont touch your eyes with your hand as much as possible, wash hands frequently, & use clean tissue/napkin on each time just pat the tears
