Is this an eye infection?

I've been wearign contacts for 6 weeks now and usually they have been okay, but yesetrday put them in and eye started going red, watery and sore plus one eye kept feeling really heavy and blurry.

today i havent put them in but eye is still red and stings, like i've been chopping onions, plus it is blurry and sensitive to the light.......i'm having to wear sunglasses!!

the only time my eyes have been similar to this is when i've scratched the surface of a contact but there doesnt seem to be any (although these are new 2 days ago, the pair befor were scratched).

I wonder if the surface of my eye has been scratched or the lenses have given my eye an infection.

Any ideas as this is very uncomfortable.

Many Thanks

Bacterial conjunctivitis.

You need chloramphenicol for it. and I think you can buy that over the counter now.

Sounds like you have conjuctivitis. Keep the contacts out for a week and review your cleaning regime. It may be you need to change your solutions.

You've conjuncted contractivitis.

As everyone else is saying it could be an infection. What i would do as you have only been wearing contacts for 6 weeks is keep the lenses out and go and see your optician as soon as possible. They can check the health of your eye. Eyesight is too precious not to look after it.
