Is this an eye infection...?

My eyes have been really dry and sore. They're not red or anything, they just hurt. I've been having to put eye drops in at least twice a day. Is this an eye infection? What should I do?

No, if you had an eye infection, your eyes would be red and oozing yellow or green stuff. Sounds like you have dry eye. If it is impacting to the extent that it affecting your functioning, consult an opthalmologist. There are treatments available for dry eye. This doc can also assess why you have dry eye. You may have blocked tear ducts, allergies, or it may be the result of a side effect from a medication you might be taking.

If the eye drops are not working you need to see an eye doctor. You could possibly have an ulsur in your eye.

Eye drops are a great aide however, they can also become a culprit.. your eyes may just be over tired.. strained etc.. if you wear glasses already.. perhaps it's time to get rechecked... if you had an ifection you would have a runny discharge.. and they would be super sensitive to light.

If this has been going on for several days, it's time to see a doctor. It could be anything from an infection to a blocked tear duct.
