I had an eye infection?

I went to the ER this weekend because I woke up with a very swollen eye. There was also a lump under my eyelid. So the doctor said I had an eye infection, gave me some eye drops, and told me to recheck it in 48 hours if the swelling didn't go down. The swelling did go away, but the lump is still there. Do you think it will go away when i'm finished with my medicine? Or should I go back to see the doctor?

I'd go to an eye doctor, they know eyes better

It might, but I suggest to finish the medicine first, and if the lump's still there, see the doctor.

it sounds like you may have had a stye (a local infection of the eyelid) with some associated redness/swelling. if your eye is less swollen and red, less painful, your vision is not affected, and you have no fever, you're probably getting better. the lump will probably shrink as the infection continues to clear. i'd continue the drops and place warm compresses (heat a washcloth and hold it to your eye for 10 minutes) 3-4 times a day. if you feel worse in any way or the lump is still there after a week or so, go get it re-checked. that's my two cents!

go back to the doc and make sure there is no foreign body or cut to the surface of your eye....

I would go see your eye doctor - like the person above said. While ER docs and staff know many things, they don't know many things about eyes, unelss they went through an ophthalmology residency. You're better to go see an optometrist or ophthalmologist to make sure everything is ok.
