Are there any eye diseases that can result in death?

Are there any eye diseases that can result in death?

Ocular melanoma, left untreated.

The only possibility would be cancer of the eye, but generally no.

Eye diseases in general if infectious may be lethal.

The veins in the face and head are different then veins in other parts of the body in that they, don't contain valves. WHy is this dangerous you ask...GOOD QUESTION!

The lack of veins allows distal facial infections, like in the eye, to move proximally into the brain and meninges and subsequesntly cause encephalitis, meningitis and death if not treated promptly.
