My 4 year old was diagnosed with an eye disease way back called bliferitis? |
I was just wondering if anyone out their shares the same experience as i do with this eye condition or knows someone that does and how that person is doing now....my daughter is only 4 and i feel she shouldnt have this condition shes too young and i dont know if she'll ever grow out if it!!! This is an extremely common condition that your daughter will probably grow out of. The fact is, a lot of people have this condition and it goes undiagnosed. There are a few different types of blepharitis--there are acute forms (they come on fast & go away), and there are chronic forms (last a long time...years). Here is my suggestion: Soak your daughter's lids with a warm wash cloth--this helps loosen crusts if present, & it also increases the blood supply (brings in the immune system). Then, create a 50:50 mixture of Johnson & Johnson baby shampoo & water--apply this with a Q-tip or wash cloth (try to get between all the lashes). I would do this every day. You may want to consider going back to your optometrist after you've been doing this for a few weeks & ask what his/her prognosis (expected outcome) is. They could also look for some of the other eye signs that can be caused by blepharitis. Remember, this is a lid hygiene problem...so keep those lids clean! Best of Luck! Blepharitis? This is an infection of the tarsal glands on the eyelids. I have had it and now I have no trouble. With proper treatment, I think she will outgrow it.. You might have better luck searching for information with the right spelling, blepharitis. Sometimes medical terms have spellings you don't expect. That is just inflammation of the back of the eyelids and itching and redness around the eyes. My daughter had this and had to have her eyelids scraped once when she was very young. The doctor said to take diluted baby shampoo and wash her eyes very gently (with eyes shut). That helps keep the inflammation down. One cause is picking the nose and then rubbing the eyes (which all kids do) They also have eye medication if they think it is an infection. Try the shampoo. My daughter had her lids scraped because they got like blisters under the lids...you could feel lumps with her eyes closed. She was put to sleep for this for just a few minutes. She did fine. Blepharitis is inflammation of the eyelids. It can occur for many reasons. Allergies is one cause and that can start at any age. Any one can get a bacterial infection. And any one can get plugged eyelid duct glands. I have pretty bad allergies and actually had the eyelids of my left eye swell up pretty big and my conjunctiva get all red. When I looked under my lids along the lash line there were these clear watery blister like things which meant the plugged glands. It has never gotten as bad again but I check for the blisters. I still get them on and off. In many cases it is a chronic condition. |
