No Insurance and been diagnosed with melanoma eye cancer? |
My brother just found out that he has melanoma eye cancer and he has no insurance. Can anyone lead me to some resources? It can spread quickly. ~~if you have a county hospital near you they usually don't charge, also, with cancer have him contact social services to see if he would qualify for medicaid.... other than that, try the american cancer association, and the commission for the blind, the lions clubs, the masons, and if you have a community action agency in your area try there. Good luck to him... will be praying for him.~~ Does he have children? If he does, he may qualify for state insurance. Either way, I would talk to the state and see what they have available. If anything, they are able to direct him in the right direction, but I would start with the state first. Don't stop here. Ask in many places. This must be hard for you and your brother. Were do you live most resources depend's on were you live. Last time I checked, melanoma is a form of skin cancer, so if it has spread to his eye then chances are good that it's in his brain. I'd look into hospice care because they cannot turn you away if you don't have insurance. Call a university affiliated hospital. There will probably be a clinic that treats eye diseases and/or cancer. Explain the situation. |
