Rhetinoblastoma is a cancer in the eye.Can the cells of this cancer be cleaned from the sperm.?

This disease has passed to my son thru me. for the second child i have to be precautious.I would like doctors for help. And geniune answers please.

retinoblastoma is a disease where there is a defect in the cancer cell causing the cell to divide multiple times uninhibited.

the basic defect is the p53 gene on chromosome 17 and retinoblastoma gene on chromosome 13. under normal conditions the first gene prevents the cells with defective chromosomes to divide and the second gene prevents the cell from entering the cell cycle without proper growth signals
both these genes have to be defective for the cancer usually retinoblastoma. usually one of the gene is defective at birth which is from either mother or father. the other gene when it gets damaged in the adulthood or at a younger age will lead to the disease.

as of now there is no method to clear the sperm of the defective gene, assuming that the father has defective chromosome. even if the defect is in the mothers ovum even then there is no chance as of now. But to determine whose genetics are carrying the defective gene u need to get few tests done. even if the child gets the gene it depends mostly on luck whether he gets the disease , but the odds are certainly high.
consult ur physician for further assistance. wish u all the best.

no,nice thought though. GOOD LUCK

Sometimes a disease or a predisposition for a disease can be carried through genes. I don't know how that particular cancer or predisposition for that cancer can be eradicated from your gene pool. Talk with your physician to get an understanding of how high a risk fathering a child might be for that child to get Rhentinoblastoma and then make a decision with your wife regarding the possible danger. Today it is near to impossible to make gene changes eliminating unwanted characteristics....like diseases. Unfortunately, in the USA we have limited stem cell research......yet stem cell research is our highest hope for eradicating...curing...and altering disease patterns.
