Can you get cancer if you aim a remote at your eye and press a button with batteries in it?

No, the power is very very low and the infra-red light isn't focussed on one spot, it has a wide angle of about 120 degrees. Otherwise you should point it at the TV's infra-red sensor as you would do with a laserpointer. Since infrared can't be seen by humans, that would be very difficult.

So it's as dangerous as looking to the leds on your keyboard which have almost the same intensity and angle.
Don't look in a laserpointer by the way, that is... dangerous for your sight.

No. I mean you might get cancer anyways, but the remote won't have anything to do with it.

No i sincerely doubt it but why would you want to do that?!!

NO!! My dad is a doctor and says silly things like this are made up for fun but it is not really because people get really scared and become paranoid so trust me it is a lie.

Studies are being done on this as well as brain cancer and mobile phone use, radar guns used by police and others. Some indications are that you can but the studies are inconclusive as yet

Most remotes use infrared light rather than radio signals. They are very safe.

know you didn't discover a deadly weapon so go back to the drawing board
