Should a 65-year old woman with a family history of breast cancer continue estrogen replacement therapy?

Should a 65-year old woman with a family history of breast cancer continue estrogen replacement therapy?

It depends on family members that have/had breast cancer. If it was a close relative, then you shouldn't take HRT (hormone replacement therapy). It is best to check with your physician.

I think you really need to talk to someone who can truly evaluate your risks and benefits. I wouldn't do HRT but, at 40, it's easy for me to say that.

I'd recommend you make an appointment with your doctor and tell him that you're concerned. Let him talk you through the benefits and risks as they relate to your specific medical history. Best Wishes.

I think this is probably a question for your Doctor. Good luck.

I would talk to your doctor. But in some woman
estrogen feeds the fibroid tumor in the breast
and it can turn in to cancer. I'm one of those
people i had to stop taking estrogen because the
estrogen feed fibroid gland and thy did a biopsy
on my left breast and i had a tumor the size of
a golf ball. I would say stop but it is really up
to you your doctor and your family history of breast
cancer.best of wishes and good luck.Mine was not cancer.
