*Home>>>Estrogen Replacement Therapy

I am afraid to take "Estrogen Replacement Therapy" medication...I took it briefly when I started Menopause.

Other then having "Hot Flashes and Night Sweats"...I feel pretty good!...Is there anything to help this besides Prempro or other prescription medications?
I have given up wearing makeup and even styling my hair...My hair starts to drip and droop and the makeup just washes off!....Help!

I right with you! I went through the change without any estrogen, and I am still here, and still a full bloomed female! It scared me to take hormones because my aunt got breast cancer the minute she went on hormones for the change! I know that doesn't always happen, but I wasn't about to take a chance. She was also the first female in our family to have breast cancer. The Dr.s said it was from the hormones too. Verses the hot flashes, widows hairline and all, all worked out. I already was a grouch, LOL-so I personally think women did to try harder to do away with any estrogen therapy!!

dont it will cause cancer

Talk to your dr. My doctor told me and gave me prescriptions for YEARS!!! I mostly never got them filled and used them and now for 2 yrs. he says I don't need them. Well, I never used them anyway and I'm doing fine. But everyone is different.

I'm a nurse. There are herbal supplements for this as well as prescription meds, I would call the doctor and ask for a change in medication. Take care.

There's an OTC herbal supplement for menopause called estroven. It contains soy because it (soy) naturally has estrogen.

Talk to your Dr or look around your town and see if there are herbalists or midwives that specialize in menopause remedies.

THOSE HOT FLASHES SHOULD BE CALLED FLASHES FROM HELL.
I WON'T TAKE H.R.T. SO I DRINK LOTS OF SOY MILK, THE CHOCOLATE AIN'T BAD, TAKE SOY ISOFLAVEN AND ALSO
VITAMIN E. THIS HELPS BUT BY NO MEANS KEEPS THEM AWAY.

OK. I don't know much about the medical side, but I have heard of a hormone type lotion that you just use everyday....someone suggested it in place of my bc pills.
As for your hair I'd say go to the salon you can confide in and ask them for suggestions on new hair style...like if your hair style asks for volume etc seek a style that lyes flat on purpose...sleek look, or even hairdo's that you can do like a twist, or braids etc.
Now for the make up....I am a professional stage artist and I am a BIG sweater! I have to wear LOTs of makeup that needs to stay on! I would suggest trying Mac studio tech (base) apply with a foundation brush for smoother coverage, and it works well if you apply a light water base moisturizer before...then be sure to brush your face with powder after applying your blush etc! This includes powdering your eye lids! This will seal on your make up. Get water proof eyeliner, and mascara...(maybeline voluminous-great!) and if you use a brow pencil or powder use a waterproof pencil lightly then apply the brow pencil for a more natural look. and ...a stay proof lipstick helps too so you don't wipe it off when you uh...(wipe the sweat from you upper lip..I know) I really like Loreal endless...stay away from liquid lipsticks with a gloss....they totally cake. yuck! Well, I hope this all helps ...sorry if it repeats info you know or have tried. Definately get a mini purse fan! I feel for ya girl...like I said...I'ma sweater and I ALWAYS have to look fresh and pretty. Bad combonation right? Good luck!
