Should a man with esophageal cancer a low hematocrit of 28 and low albumin of 3.1 have sauruated fat or lipids

should this man eat all foods or eat foods that would meet a healthy persons nutrient needs.

An albumin of 3.1 means he has depleted protein stores so he needs increased protein foods plus other healthy foods. The protein foods such as eggs, meat, poultry, fish, beans will all provide protein plus iron which thte Hematocrit of 28 indicates he is also low iniron (anemic). If he is having trouble swallowing then the meat products should be blended into a pureed consistency. An egg or 2 each day is excellent protein. ALso if he can drink any Ensure or Boost, about 3 a day it will provide about 20-30 extra grams of protein per day. An average person not ill needs about 56 grams of protein so he needs more about 75-8- grams per day, I'm not sure because it would be determined by his weight. Hope this helps. At this point don't worry about fat, just get the protein down him.

Depends on if he can swallow, poor fellow. And it may not matter much because he probably won't live very long. That type of cancer is terrible as are most types, of course. Do talk with his Dr for the correct answer, please.
