Do I have esophageal cancer?

About a week ago I started having problems with swallowing... It hurts a bit while I swallow, sometimes I feel as if I have something in my esophagus... It's like slightly choking me in my throat and near my stomach. I went to a doctor and he said that it's just a cold... But I'm a hypohondriac, so I'm very nervous and my condition is not improving... I feel just a bit better, but still have problems with swallowing... I feel scared and nervous all the time, sometimes for no reason and that's worsening my condition... My grandfather died early this year from esophagus cancer and I'm afraid that I may have it too. Is it possible? I don't smoke, I'm not an alcoholic and I'm 21 years old... Do I have cancer?

21 is not the age for oesophageal cancer. What you are having is cancer phobia. The pain could be caused by acute pharyngeal infection which will go away on treatment.

Yes, you have cancer. I give you about 3 months until you die, so live it up.

But seriously, what the HELL. If you think you have cancer, why are you asking on an anonymous online forum? See a doctor you idiot. Forget about the cancer, you're more likely to die from forgetting to breath with your lack of intelligence.

The most common malignant esophageal tumor is squamous cell carcinoma, followed by adenocarcinoma. Symptoms are progressive dysphagia and weight loss. Diagnosis is by endoscopy, followed by CT and endoscopic ultrasound for staging. Treatment varies with stage and generally includes surgery with or without chemotherapy and radiation. Long-term survival is poor except for those with local disease.
Signs and tests for Esophageal cancer:-
* Barium swallow
* EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) and biopsy
* Chest MRI or thoracic CT (usually used for helping to determine the stage of the disease)
* PET scan (sometimes useful for determining the stage of disease, and whether surgery is possible)
* Evidence of occult (hidden) blood in stool
Consult a Gastroenterologist.
