Is there a cure for esophageal cancer? |
Is there a cure for esophageal cancer? here is a link to clinical trials for esophageal cancer...hit map to find local trials...don't forget to turn the pages to see all trials... no "cure" but treatment so it can go into remission. there is no cure for cancer. All cancers have some hope for a cure. In esopheageal cancer they ususally need to remove the tumors. After that you can't eat orally for a while. It will be necessary to have a tube in your stomach to feed you a liquid diet. Usually it is something like Jevity 1,2, Ths will provide all your nutritional needs but you will still need to add water thru the tube. It is possible to do this at home, its pretty easy to do. I have had 2 patients with esopheageal cancer and one had about 1/2 of his neck removed and some radiation, the other had the tumors removed only. Both did the tube feeding route AND both ARE fine now. In fact I ran into one in the grocery store (the one with part of his neck removed. Other than the cosemetic effect he is doing great. Its been 4 years. As with any other form of cancer the treatment can go either way. Chemotherapy, and surgical removal of the affected tissue often gets rid of the cancer, but sometimes treatment doesn't help. Almighty God is the best Healer. He knows us inside and out. |
