Esophogeal cancer genetic?

is esophageal cancer genetic, does it run in the family

not usually, it is caused by GERD that is not treated and smoking....it usually effects older people and MEN more than women....fruits and veggies help prevent it.....

No, but cigarette smoking often runs in families. Families that smoke together die of tobacco related cancers together. The risks of esophageal cancer are also increased by high alcohol intake so add drinking to smoking and you have a recipe for higher rates of esophageal cancer.
