I have bad reflux in my sleep. Can you get esophageal cancer from reflux.? |
I have a sore throat from having relux so bad in my sleep last nite I woke up at 5 am dreaming I was suffocating and when I finally got my senses about me, it was my stomach acid boiling up into my throat. I almost threw up in my bed. I work for a GI doctor and we see this all the time. You need to have a test done. The test is a very quick test. In our office it takes about 5 mins to do one. Have you tried anything over the counter like Pepcid, Zantac? They even sell Prilosec OTC now. It really works. Start taking one every day and I guarantee you won't wake up with reflux. Also, watch your diet and drink lots of water. I did not have it done personally but my husband did. He was diagnosed with "barets syndrome" which is an erosion of the esophogus from his acid reflux. He too use to be bad at nite. He is now on medication and is doing so much better. He said the procedure was not bad at all because he was out of it while it was being done. He now gets tested every 3-5 years. Definitely schedule it for early in the morning because you cannot eat for a period of time before the procedure. Good luck! |
