Can a fellow CMT help me w/ ergonomics? |
I am six feet tall, long-legged and long-waisted, and thus I have a terrible time staying in a kneeling lunge while doing shiatsu; to deliver straight-arm softening or point-work, I practically have to do the splits to reach my client. Shiatsu kills me too, because I don't have as much skill when my height is compromised. I give shiatsu on a massage table. The only difference is that the pressure isn't quite as deep, but when I lower my table to the farthest possible position, it is low enough. You can also learn to give table shiatsu - and position yourself on the table. Your client will relax much more easily once you have mastered this and aren't fumbling around them. Remember they are trying to relax. save your own body...buy your own table..costomize to your height...you can practice your profession much longer if you take care of you |
