Psychogenic erectile dysfunction?????

Hey i have had psychogenic erectile dysfunction for about 3 months. I am only 22years old. It started after a break up with my girfriend. We got back together and i have an extremely hard time getting an erection now. Ive looked all over the internet for solutions and found nothing. I talked to about 5 doctors and they said it was all in my head and they didnt take me very seriously. Is this kind of condition permanant? Or is there no cure or i have no i dea? Has anyone esle been through this? Why are the doctors not taking me seriously?

I am sure you have some unresolved problems concerning your GF breakup and reconciliation that you not even be aware of. I really suspect you have a lot of anger, but don't listen to me. Counseling can help identify these problems and help you deal with them. At age 22 this condition will pass - many many guys have had the same problem, it is just something they don't talk about (especially younger ones). I am surprised none of your Drs referred you to a psychologist..try to find one that specializes in ED - Good Luck

This kind of thing happens to people who have been severely hurt emotionally. The problem is, you don't WANT to find your girlfriend attractive because of your previous break up. You felt in your subconsious that it was best for you that you two stay apart, and now that you are back together your subconsious is telling you in a physical way about what you decided before.

I suggest therapy or something, it could help you. Or break up with the girlfriend?

You are just 22, likely it is just a temporary condition. Since you are able to attain an erection, you are correct in your diagonsis of being a psycological condition. I used to be part of the impotence medical implant industry. There are some people where it is a permenant condition, but those people could no attain an erection at all. We put in penile implants in these patients, but not before each one went through psycological therapy first. You also may just want to have your testosterone levels checked you may have an endocrine condition. Oh yes, if a doctor gives you crap just realize he/she likely graduated at the bottom of their medical school class and find a competent practitioner.

About 60 percent of males experience Male Erectile Dysfunction at sometime in their adult life. In your case, it could be that the break up with your girlfriend had some residual sexual side effects. This occurrence is not uncommon and is usually temporary.

It could also be that you're trying to hard to have an erection. If you're intimate with a new partner, focus on the closeness and intimacy and not in gaining and maintaining an errection. Your erection will return soon enough. If your temporary condition continues to trouble you, you might find a licensed mental health professional who specializes in the treatment of sexual dysfunctions. Best of luck.

Cheers!
