Was anyone diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr virus after receiving the Gardasil vaccine?

After receiving my last shot in the series, i got very sick with flu-like symptoms. Body aches, vomiting, fever, you name it. This set in in the middle of the night, the day i got the shot. I was sick for a good 2 weeks before i finally went to my doctor, who did blood work and concluded i was positive for the Epstein-Barr virus. This can cause mononucleosis, in addition to central nervous system damage if not properly treated. I was put on strict bed rest for the next 2 weeks, after being told that if i wasnt extremely careful my spleen could rupture.

I dont know if this is in any way linked to the Gardasil, but i would like to know if anyone else has experienced this.

It is in no way linked. Gardasil is an HPV vaccine which is for a virus that is in the herpesviridae family (no it's not for "herpes"). EBV is in the family Papovaviridae.

By adulthood, 90% of human beings will test positive for EBV. The clinical manifestations vary from none at all to "Mono" which is a prolonged fatigue resembling early influenze infection. In some populations, it is linked to Burkitt's Lymphoma though if you have internet access I find that unlikely this will be an issue for you.

Gardasil is a 3 shot course and has the potential to prevent life threatening cancer. It would be a shame to stop the course over an idea like it gave you mono.
