Epstein-Barr Virus!!!!!!!!?

I was diagnosed with this epstein-barr last year. It completely debilitated me for several months. Eg. Swollen lymph glands on and off for months... Lost a ton of weight, like turned into Nicole Riche... All my muscles ached badly at ALL times... And no matter how much I slept, that wasn't enough. They said it wasn't mono or anything else so I guess that's what it was. I did test positive for EB virus... But that's all. I tested positive for this and they didn't give me any advice how to not get sick again or tell me really what it is... Lately I am having sore throats and feel sleepy even after 12 hours of sleep... Does anyone else suffer from a bad case of this or have you ever? Did it come back? Can I prevent it from returning? Any advice at all would be nice... I barely understand the disease, just what i could gather from the internet... Would love some personal stories and experience... THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

The Epstein Barr Virus is responsible for causing the illnes known as Infectious Mononucleosis. Also called 'kissing disease' as that is how it is commonly spread.

It can make you very sick and weak for many months but may come and go as you slowly recover. The best way to manage it is to do what your body tells you, go slow and sleep when you need to and play when you feel well.

It seems like a lifetime, but you will get better.

Hope this helps.

If you have chronic ebv you need to go back and get treatment. This can be a sign of cfs, chronic fatigue syndrome which usually presents along with chronic ebv.
this is a virus that is called the human herpes virus so it is a strain of the herpes virus which is not a sexually transmitted disease or anything like that. you get the ebv virus from having had mono at some point, you don't get ebv without having had mono. It doesn't mean that you had to be laid out with mono as some are. It only means that you were in contact with someone who had mono.... the rate of people who have ebv is something like 80%. I test positive for it as well. I have multiple lymph glands that have hardened and some are swollen. It is important that you continue to seek medical attention. They will not diagnose you with a chronic illness if you only see them one time. You must be persistent about this with them in order to be heard. I have gone through years of the diagnosing process and i went through a few diagnosis's before they actually got it right and it is all in the matter of a check off list and elimination thing that the doctors must do before they give a definite diagnosis. My diagnosis's were cfs, lupus, menires disease, probable ms, and final diagnosis remitting/relapsing multiple sclerosis. I went through years of hell and pain and fatigue and was feeling like I was crazy for many of those years because the doctors didn't explain anything or even give an indication of what it was they were looking for.... after getting a definite diagnosis the doctor shared with me that he always new I had MS, but he had a curriculum to follow. The entire time, since my second trip to the doctor and since my first MRI my medical records have read probable Multiple Sclerosis. I would have been better and went to the doctors when symptoms arised had I known what they were thinking all along instead of being afraid of them looking at me like I was imagining these things. So, keep going until you get answers and suggest that you would like to see a specialist or get a second opinion.

Good Luck!
