Epstein barr virus what is it and what does it do to you?

i have a friend that had a posotive epstein barr virus test done and it was positive

Epstein barr is simply mononucleosis..."the kissing disease". It is simply a virus that is contagious and can be spread through contact with saliva, mucus and sometimes tears. Some people have no symptoms. Others have:
fever
sore throat
swollen lymph nodes
swollen tonsils
headache
loss of appetite
sometimes, a swollen spleen

Treatment involves:
rest
salt water gargles
meds for fever

Since it is a virus, it must run it's course.

glandular fever ,Usually a teenage illness.called also the kissing disease as it can be passed on this way.Harmless but unpleasant swelling of glands and general malaise, rest is the best cure.

The Epstein Barr Virus is the same virus that causes Mono and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Most people have the virus, but it doesn't show symptoms.

It stays in your body forever, and may or may not cause problems.

For some people, it causes ongoing low grade fever, general feeling of illness, and severe fatigue.
