Epstein-Barr Virus?

I was told by my doctor that I had past Epstein-Barr virus or mono, this was after I went to see him for fatigue, nausea, weakness, etc. He took this same test on me last year and told me the same thing, but he does not tell me what to do or prescribe anything for it. Is it possible to be feeling so crappy from a past Virus? I know I was originally diagnosed with Epstein-Barr and Chronic Fatigue about 20 yrs. ago, does this mean that I will have this forever?

there is such a thing as "chronic mono" or chronic ebv. this is when the antibodies of the virus never go what is considered "normal"-as 95% of the worlds population has had EBV at one point.....

my question is, has he tested you for hepatitis c? both viruses belong in the flaviforadae family. one does not cause the other, however, i had tested for both (and positive for both) at the same time. now they think that if the doctor tests for ebv and not hcv that it could be hcv and really not mono. so there is a chance you could be misdiagnosed.

get a test for hcv antibodies as a normal liver panel test in those with hcv do not always show and indicative marker for elevations in alt and ast levels, yet you can still be chronic active.

everyone has one risk factor for this double stranded rna virus as it is blood borne. get tested and good luck!

*as for diet or medications. some folks have had luck with the medication they use for herpes. others have lessoned their symptoms by a low fat well balanced diet, others have tried the "no meat" diet. just try what works as there really isn't anything one can do yet to successfully treat EBV.
