Epilepsy????

I got diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago and i was just wondering what i have to like take care with. ( ia have fits when i am asleep)

Hello!
My name is Bobby and live in Sweden.
I have Epilepsy and I have had it since I was 7 months, and today 53, so I have had it for some years.

I found your q. very interesting and I have a little answerer witch I get from my doc. about -75.
I asked him about working, with E.
He told me that's no problem at all but maybe maybe, he would not recommend a work like a diver or a mountain climber, and live your life normally. There can be some problems with driving license.

Things like alcohol, late nights, lack of sleep are known to
bring seizures very easy.

When you ride a bike you should have a helmet on you.
Don't go swimming alone.
When you are up on heights, I recommend you not to be alone, and of course don't forget to take your medicine.

I use to say :
You eat like a person with diabetic, and live like a person with epilepsy regular times, no stress, a good sleep.

Another thing, i think you have heard a lot of people say that
they are epileptic, I say instead that I have epilepsy, not that I'm a epileptic and there a big difference

Take care of you, hope those lines could give something

Bobby

My mother was exactly the same way. Just stay med compliant and see your neurologist whenever recommended. My mom hasn't had an episode in 15 years.

OK, I'm not an expert, nor do I have epilepsy, but I knew someone who did. I've created a website in her memory and I'd really suggest watching the video on it. It's only 3 minutes long, and it's got a ton of tips on how to be safe with epilepsy, OK?

I'd also suggest joining the communities at http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org or
http://www.epilepsy.com

The people there are VERY helpful!!

There are many things that can trigger a seizure, even when you are asleep. I have a seizure disorder with seizures while I sleep. Be sure to eat correctly and get plenty of sleep. Do not drink alcohol and take your medications as prescribed. These suggestions can help to reduce seizures but one may happen anyway. I have been seizure free for 8 yrs myself.
