Epilepsy? Please help?

I have had epilepsy since I was 8 years old and now I am 37. I would say my epilepsy is a "sleeping epilepsy" like on and off. I only have a trigger once a month, sometimes once every 3 years. I use Tegretol Tablet 200MG once a day.
I don't feel confident driving too far away. If I have a sign that I'm going to have a seizure, definetly I wouldn't go out and I would stay at home all day.
If really, I have to drive my kids to school I always take another one tablet and I'll feel better.
My question is...is there any other way to make my epilepsy gone without having an operation...or any other medication better than Tegretol???
Please help. Thank you so much...
