Epilepsy???

How would a person know if there child has it? And what causes it? How can you help someone the first time they have one?

There can be many signs. Look up epilepsy and its symptoms. It can be genetic or caused by a bump on the head. It can even be caused by food additives. The child can have anything from a daydream to a convulsion. Continuous seizures can continue to damage the traumatized area in the brain and if this is happening you need to take the child to the doctor. What it is is a misfiring of the nerve cells in the brain and when this happens the rest of the brain will try to compensate for the misfiring resulting in anything from a daydream to a convulsion. If the child is having seizures, allow them to happen making sure that the kid can't fall or hurt himself on anything.
The most important thing to do is get the child to a doctor for testing and evaluation. This is the best I can do for you in a couple of paragraphs, but get the kid to a neurologist

Epilepsy is a medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions. It鈥檚 also called a seizure disorder. When a person has two or more seizures, they are considered to have epilepsy.

A seizure happens when a brief, strong surge of electrical activity affects part or all of the brain. One in 10 adults will have a seizure sometime during their life.

Seizures can last from a few seconds to a few minutes. They can have many symptoms, from convulsions and loss of consciousness to some that are not always recognized as seizures by the person experiencing them or by health care professionals: blank staring, lip smacking, or jerking movements of arms and legs.
