Is this epilepsy? |
my cousin was telling me that sometimes when she's writing or working on something she hears voices in her head all at once and everything slows down for her. she's afraid that it might be epilepsy. however when she was younger, she was tested and was found to be perfectly healthy. and if you're going to answer with ridicule then don't bother. Sounds like your cousin may want to go to a neurologist to get a workup. They can do an EEG on her (it measures her brain waves) and find out what's wrong. There are pills to treat everything, and I'm sure there is something out there that the neurologist can prescribe to help her once they find out what's wrong. Please tell your cousin not to wait. Something could happen to her when she's behind the wheel. No.. it's Crazy sounds like she needs to be evaluated again. might be having petit mal seizures. hope all works out ok Could it be the onset.....she should request a E.K.G or a M.R.I if insurance allows. It could be a whole lot of things. She needs to see her doctor to start investigating this one. Sounds more like a metal imbalance more than epilepsy. Nothing to be ashamed of. A lot of people have this and are able to control the voices with medication. It is due to an imbalance in a chemical of the brain. It is an actual medical problem. epilepsy is seizures. When you get seizures you don't hear voice in you head. I am an EMT and I have seen some baziare crap but never any patient that said they heard voices during a seizure... Sounds more like a mental disorder. hearing voices is more a sign of schizophrenia. sometimes, with this mental illness, people zone out of the real world. that could explain why the "world slows down." schizophrenia is not always detected at birth and can develope over time. i would go to a brain specialist and get a CAT scan. a CAT scan is what measures brain waves. Epilepsy comes in many forms and has been known to not effect a person for years only to show up again in the teen years.Have your friend get checked out.She may need both an E.E.G. and an M.R.I. to be sure it's epilepsy. The newest M.R.I. images can find alot. When going to see the doctor have your friend have a list of questions to ask and to be ready with her family history.Doing so help the doctors help her better. |
