Endoscopy?

What is it like getting an endoscopy ? (for diagnois of digestive problems).

I will just tell you about a laproscopy too- they may do that if they cant see with the endoscopy. WIth an endo scopy you wont be able to eat for a while and they will put you to sleep and you will wake up and burp or fart(i know its gross but thats how your body gets rid of the gas they inflated your colon and intestines with) It doesnt involve any pain, you will be asleep!
I had a laproscopy three years ago and one last year. They cut three small incisions in your belly, they are very small and the scars go away easily. Mine are almost completely gone. They take you to the Operating room and them they give you something in your IV, it will make you VERY sleepy. Then they give you gas and you fall asleep. when you wake up you will be in a great deal of pain. Something you wont expect but i can guarantee it will happen is shoulder pain- this is because then inflate your belly with a gas, they get most of it out but cant get it all out. it will go away in a few hours. You will be kept overnight or possibly sent home- depending on your age. Your stomach will be swollen and have stitches and butterfly bangades over the incisions. You can take these off after 24-48 hours(your doctor will tell you the times for you) you will be given pain medacine- either vicadin or codeine. You should feel better in about 4-5 days! if you have anyo problems or questions just ask.

It isn't bad at all. I had anesthesia, I have heard that not all doctors use it though. Afterward my throat was a little sore and scratchy and I had a little pain in my stomach from the biopsies and all the air they force into your stomach. The day after I was fine, just a little crampiness left over.
