Endometriosis!?

i am 15. My doctors have told me they think i have endo and IC (interstitial cystitis). I have been waiting for an "Okay" from my insurance to get a MRI for almost 3 weeks. My mom and I are both stressed at the fact that this is taking so long. We also don't think we need an MRI. Instead, we believe they should find out surgically, it will be cheaper and more definite. Anyway, to start out, they put me on YAZ. I was happy because i thought it might go away. Well, it didnt. It's back and just as bad as before. Well, last night i started getting really bad nausea. I just took some anti-nausea stuff (that i had to take before so i could eat and keep food down). Anyway, this morning i woke up and i ate breakfast (i had decided i wasnt going to eat, because i wasnt hungry and food would make me sick) and, i threw up 2x. i went to the ortho and then back to school and i threw up 2x again. I was wondering if anyone else has/had any of these syptoms, or any suggestions on what i should do...

IC is a tricky thing to deal with. You should start taking an over the counter medication called Prelief for it. It will make a WORLD of difference while you are waiting to hear back from the doctor. I don't know why they would do an MRI. Sounds more like you need catheter treatments, at least for that part.

As far as the endo, birth control should help. Ask your doctor for a low dose bc, because the throwing up could be from your body trying to accustom itself to the hormones.

Endo can't be diagnosed by MRI, only by surgery. Sometimes BCP's don't work. It's normal for people with endo to have nausea and vomiting.
You could ask your doctor about Meclomen - it's an NSAID like Aleve or Advil but it actually reduces your flow. Less flow means less pain with endo.
You could also try taking your BCP for 3 months straight. Fewer periods means less pain too.
If you do have surgery, demand that they CUT out the endo - or docs will burn it out because that's what they've been taught. Burning it out doesn't get rid of it, but cutting it out does. I've had endo since I was 13 and went undiagnosed until 22. Since then I've had 2 surgeries.

You definitely need to stay on your birth control stuff. You might have felt nauseated because of the birth control, since the pills contain hormones which fool your body into thinking it is pregnant. So nausea is definietely a side effect.

I don't know a whole lot about IC, exept it is common for those who have endo to also have IC. As mentioned, endo can only be diagnosed with a lap-surgery, an MRI will not detect endo, neither will an ultrasound. Most Dr.'s like to try you on bc pills-the trick is finding one that works and most dr.'s like you to try a certain one for 3 months before you switch. I've never had lot of luck with anything other than narcotic pain meds for pain relief, although you may be different. I would ask your dr. about taking acetaminephin and ibuprophen together-I've had this recommended to me from a dr. so assuming it's ok as long as the dr. says. If endo is suspected you certainly should have the lap-surgery, b/c it not only gives you a definate diagnosis but allows the dr. to treat it as well. As mentioned, have the endo excised, not burned. From all of my researching and having endo 13 plus years I feel one of the best ways to deal with/treat endo is to have a dr. knowledgable in endo-even though I myself havn't found the right one-it's very hard. I would suggest calling the dr.'s office and asking them what you can do for the nauseau-maybe they will prescribe something? And then until you can have surgery, try taking a different bc pill-make sure it is one considered "monophasic" and take it continuously so you don't have a period. I know it's hard. If you have pain, ask the dr.'s office about that as well. I had been prescribed a drug called, I believe, Hydroxeine for nausea and it helped-there are also suppositories the dr. can prescribe-don't be afraid to call them and request something! Good luck.
