My dog is currently ill with this condition and was interested to see if anyone could help me understand her prognosis?

Encephalitis means, simply, inflammation of the brain. It can occur at any age and is usually the result of a viral infection.

Encephalitis is different from meningitis, which is an inflammation of the layers that cover the brain (the meninges) and may be the result of a bacterial or viral infection.

Infection is the invasion of the body by disease-producing organisms and the reaction of the tissues to their presence and to the toxins generated by them.

There are two main types of encephalitis-

Acute viral encephalitis (AVE) caused by a direct viral attack on the brain.
Post Infectious Encephalitis an autoimmune condition whereby the body's immune system attacks the brain following a viral infection elsewhere in the body.

this means that there is a fluid collection to her brain. normally the head is bigger than all the other dogs.

she will properbly not live long or be in a vegitated state.

you can just keep her as compfortable as possible or put her down to prevent her from the suffering.
she would not be able to lead a proper dog's life.

take care of her.
