Emphysema- My mother has the beginning of it, and I am worried. I need someone to give inspiration!!? |
My mom just found out she has the beginning of Emphysema, and who knows, possibly lung cancer, I pray not. She works so hard babysitting kids, and she feels life is hard and she is always in pain, she said if she has lung cancer, she won't quit smoking, and she is not even sure she would fight for her life since life is so painful already, and this really bothers me and hurts me. I know her life is tough. but giving up is not the answer. I need someone who can send inspirational thoughts or ideas to her, she will read all of this, please respond with positive ideas. She's gotta stop smoking or it is all a moot point. Get her on a good nutrition regimen (see Adelle Davis' Let's Get Well) and have her take lots of antioxidants (Vitamin E and C and selenium) and MSM to slow down the scarring process . A good read is Michael Murray's How to Prevent and Treat Cancer with Natural Medicine, which is filled with good advice and positive messages. The books of Andrew Weil and Bernie Siegel are also very good. She needs to quit smoking but more than that she needs to reevauluate her life. I am not sure how old you are but you sound like a caring daughter and mabye you talk to her about the fact that if she doesn't put up a fight and decide that she is going to live mabye she should think about what she will miss if she isn't here. Your graduation, wedding, grandchildren their weddings and graduations. Is it really worth missing all that without a fight. My mother was very sick when I was fifteen and the doctors said that we would lose her, my mother was depressed so me and my five sisters got together and made a list of things that would take place in the next ten years that she would miss if she wasn't here. With us there for her she pulled out and got better and now she says that she wouldn't miss the next ten years for anything. Get some time with your mother and beg her to fight let her know that you will be there morning and night to help her and together you can make sure that she has ten years too. Lots of Prayers and Good Luck! My Dad was told many years before he died that he had the early beginning of emphysema also, but if he would stop smoking right then it would not bother him.....He quit and he lived to be 85 y/o and died of gall bladder problem infection after surgery. Was not even on any kind of inhalers or anything for breathing...So good luck to her if she will stop smoking |
