When does drinking water become dangerous in terms of drinking too much and throwing off your electrolytes?

I am just now getting to the point to where I can drink water. I am now drinking five to six 16.9 ounce bottles per day (84.5 to 101.4 ounces per day). I have heard that you can throw off your electrolytes if you drink too much water. How much is considered too much? I am 30 and weigh 198 pounds. I know you鈥檙e supposed to drink at least half your body weight so I think I am going okay, but I wanted to ask so I don鈥檛 go overboard with it.

If you drink more than your kidneys can process over a time period, you'll get water intoxication, which can lead to death. How much depends on your body weight and physical activity (loss of water from sweat or breathing can offset water gained from drinking).

Yes you can die from it, Too much water will dilute your bloods mineral content, I have heard you feel as if you are getting drunk before you pass out and die. Drink Gatorade every other glass of water, Sorry I do not know how much water your body can handle safely, I think it would depend on your weight

Water intoxication, also known as hyponatremia, normally is linked to marathon runners' drinking too much water after a race. When this happens, there is so much water in the body that it dilutes vital minerals such as sodium down to dangerous levels. This can lead to confusion, headaches and in extreme cases fatal swelling of the brain,

drinking too much water might cause your kidney work too hard.
kidney is like the filter of your body.
the more you drink the more it filtrates.

just drink when you feel like you wanna drink.
don't drink too much if you don't feel like want to drink.

does it sound confusing ?

Drinking allot of water is great but just listen to your body. When you feel thirsty drink water and stay away from soda, juice, energy drinks, coffee & alcoholic beverages. You will feel better and if you need to know if your hydrated then you can always give yourself a "tilt" test (ask any medic and they can explain).

You will feel nauseous if you have too much. It is referred to as water intoxication. Drinking what you are doing now is adequate. I wouldn't add any more.
