Help with fluid and electrolytes PLEASE?

I'm in nursing school and we are studying fluid and electrolytes, I just can't get it. Is there a web site that explains it so it might click? Most of the questions is critical thinking.

Sorry but this topic was about some of the hardest material I had to learn in college. I don't ever want to hear another lecture about respiratory acidosis, with a partial compensated metabolic alkalosis.

Try WebMd.com

if you dissolve sugar in water its sugar solution and if you want to electroplate something you use electrolyte such as CuS04 and use copper electrodes or just simple dip copper at one end thru which current enters the electrolytic solution.

this thing wont happen in sugat solution

Thats what I knwo n sorry I duno any websites about that, try google it or maybe wikipedia :)

I feel your pain...we did that last semester (I am a pharmacy student) for adults and right now we're doing fluids and electrolytes for pediatric patients. believe me this is not easy stuff, but there are some basics.
first..learn the Holiday Segar method for fluid requirements. This is how much fluid the person should be getting in a day. if dehydrated, you need to replenish that fluid, but you need to give it with sodium (0.9% saline). the way you do this is pretty complicated because you can't give too much at a time so you need to calculate at what rate you can infuse the saline. It's pretty complicated stuff, and unfortunately there's no tutorial that can teach you this. sorry :( maybe you can try to get a nice professor to explain it to you (down to basics) and build up on it by practicing more problems...that's what I did.

I don't know of any websites... websites can be untrustworthy at times...

Critical thinking is a skill that is developed over time and will come eventually... It can not be learned through a website.

If you post or email me a specific question... I will help you work through it and also help you find the rationale for the question.

Also, I can recommend a book... it is called :
Saunders Nursing Survival Guide: Fluids & Electrolytes

It is a very easy to understand book... breaks it down into simple concepts.

Good Luck to you,
Nurse Angie

I personally didn't have any problems with this part. If you e-mail specific questions I can try to help you.
