is that what you loose when your bulimic? how can i put them back? is that what can make you die? what are electrolytes anyways? In oral rehydration therapy, electrolyte drinks containing sodium and potassium salts are used to replenish the body's water and electrolyte levels after dehydration caused by exercise, diaphoresis, diarrhea, vomiting or starvation. So to answer your question yes, bulimia can cause in the depleation of your electrolyte count. Sports drinks such as Gatorade or Lucozade are electrolyte drinks with large amounts of added carbohydrates, such as glucose, to provide energy. Without sufficient levels of these key electrolytes, muscle weakness or severe muscle contractions may occur. However, Serious electrolyte disturbances, such as dehydration and overhydration, may lead to cardiac and neurological complications, and unless they are rapidly resolved will result in a medical emergency. Electrolytes keep you hydrated. This does not mean you need to drink Gatorade all the time. This only means that when your electrolytes are depleted it is a good idea to consume some, these are only in extreme circumstances that they are needed , exercising in extreme conditions over 5 or 6 hours (an Ironman or ultramarathon, for example) you will need to add a complex sports drink with electrolytes. Electrolytes are substances that become ions in solution and acquire the capacity to conduct electricity. The balance of the electrolytes in our bodies is essential for normal function of our cells and our organs. when you're bulimic, you lose EVERYTHING, since you're not eating. you're missing out on vitamins, minerals, calories, carbohydrates, EVERYTHING. bulimia is a good way to do permanent damage to your health. there is NO substitute for regular eating. |
