Electrolytes and fasting?

Can someone explain to be about elecrolytes, how you lose them, what they are for, what they are made of, how do you get them back, and what happends if you lose too many or whatever?

and also, what are the stages of fasting? Like day by day what are the side effects physically and emotionally, what kind of day will you experience each day, what is the hardest day, how long should I go? Should I drink gatorade rain and water or just water? should I excersise? should I drive?

You defenitly should never drive while fasting, your coordination is way off and can easily cause an accident.
The first three days are the hardest, you will be drained physicall and emotionally. Also very short tempered, the slightest thing will set you off. It's extremely hard to concentrate as well. and as for exercising, you can, but after day three you most likely will not have enough energy and will probably pass out. If you are a beginner at fasting, do a three day fast to start, then gradually up the days. Don't end the fast with a binge, you will feel horrible.
Electrolytes are extremely important for the muscles to function, lose too many and your heart will fail. It's very important to replace electrolyes in cases with extreme exercise, frequent throwing up, laxatives, and fasting as well, although you dont lose electrolytes as rapidly with fasting. Gatorade is very good especially if you have an active day. Drink a ton of water, even the slightest dehydration will leave you twice as drained. Day three is the hardest, that is usually when i wake up feeling completely awful, although it's different for everyone, you will definetly have a day where you just dont want to move. Fasting is extremely not recommended if you have a busy schedule!
Maybe you should start with a juice fast, since you sound like your new to it. 100% juice with no added sugars is good, as well as veggie juices. you can even make a smoothie with non fat yogurt.

Good luck and be smart.
