Elbow joint stress related on-going injury? |
Multiple times a day I am having to assist my husband (he is paraplegic from stroke, his right side is not very functional) in getting up, sitting down, helping to lift or move his leg. A non-related worker's comp injury has resurfaced (1997) in the elbow joints of both arms now. That worker's comp injury was from over stressing from lifting and lowering heavy boxes. Now, I have to make myself sleep with my arms straight by my sides, to keep me from continually pulling my arms inward (like in a fetal position). w/o exam and complete history its difficult..several things to look for ..if you have tenderness to the outside of your elbow thats tennis elbow.if you are having numbness or pain going from the elbow to 4th-5th fingers that can be ulnar neuritis.Generalized overuseage or strains can also give the symptoms your having.I would avoid any wt lifting etc..now..you need to ice the elbows and take NSAIDs.After elbows are well then you can try some stretch, strength exercises from a PT.If you have arthritis however Ice may make things worse.a simple xray can determine if you have arthritis |
